Wear Your Clothes Backwards & Wow the Crowd
It can be fun and silly, or it can backwards chic.
- Wear a graphic shirt backwards
- Put your necklace or neck tie hanging down your back
- Put sunglasses on the back of your head
Pump Up the Fun with a Backwards Fashion Show
Now that everyone is dressed up, show it off with a Backwards Fashion Show!
This can be as simple as unrolling solid red wrapping paper for a red carpet and setting chairs along each side. If you want it to look really great in photos, there’s metallic floral sheeting.
(If the ladies are in heels you may want to nix the paper and just create the idea of a runway between the chairs – much safer, especially if they are walking backwards.)
2. Add a box of props.
Put together a collection of interesting props:
- feather boa
- sunglasses and eyeglasses
- jewelry, especially long necklaces to hang down their back
- toy weapons
- hats & tiaras
- bows & bowties
3. Choose the emcee of the backwards fashion show
Did someone not show up in backwards clothing? Their punishment could be having to emcee the fashion show. Or . . . who in you group loves to talk or is a budding comedian? They’ll probably do a fantastic job introducing each “model” and describing their outfits. (Or maybe everyone wants to take a turn.)
4. Now the “models” walk down the runway – backwards!
Of course they have to walk backwards – their clothing is facing that way; it makes it more difficult, and therefore funnier too.
5. Tell everyone to get their cameras out.
This gives them the full effect of being a supermodel as they walk down the runway. (And of course you’ll want everyone to post the photos on Facebook or Instagram so the whole world knows what an awesome time they’re having at your amazing Backwards Party.)
6. Give awards.
Offer a prize to the best backward-dressed person, the backwards superstar who rocked the runway, and the best paparazzi who took photos of all the crazy looks. The emcee should get a special award for their job, too. Little Oscar-style statuettes are perfect for your award.
