American Buttermilk Pancakes

Classic recipe, just like mom used to make on weekends.

  • 2 c flour
  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • c buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Tbsp vegetable oil


  • Preheat a lightly oiled griddle to medium-high heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Make a hole in the middle of the mound.
  • In a separate bowl mix egg, buttermilk and oil. Pour milk mixture into flour mixture. Mix until moistened but not lumpy.
  • Pour or scoop the batter onto the hot griddle. When batter appears to “bubble”, let it cook a few seconds then flip over and brown the other side.
